This is the beginning of the series of 16 videos that Sir Simon Rattle and the CBSO have made to enlighten the public about classical music in the 20th century.

Simon Rattle begins this journey in the transition years between the 19th and 20th centuries.

Personally, I fell in love with Sir Rattle for his easy and even lyrical way of explaining social circumstances, political and economic. Since then, I can understand and appreciate classical music much more at this stage of our century.
